$150K - G3 Maryland Sprint - Pimlico Race 10

Most of these will handle the distance and off going so it probably boils down to who gets the best trip. Looking at BRIS speed figures this race is closely matched

I'm taking #7 Laki (15/1 ML) ignoring last year's result in this race where apparently something went amiss. I like his draw today outside of the main speed horses: Red Dragon Tattoo, Lewisfield and Switzerland. Karamanos had a good day on Friday, hopefully he can break well and keep his face clean sitting just off a potential speed duel. Yeah, his last was only at 5.5 furlongs but he had a ton left and 3 of his 5 wins are at today's distance.

I suppose the light bulb went off for #5 Switzerland (5/2 ML) after his maiden win on February 16. Taken under the wing of S. Asmussen he has made it three in a row after back-to-back convincing wins at Oaklawn. Given five weeks rest, now he'll try stakes company -- might get caught up in a fight for the lead.

With #9 Long Haul Bay's (2/1 ML) running style I can understand bettors gravitating toward him. My main concern is did he run too fast first off the bench? Also, he did benefit from a set up in front that day and has to prove himself outside of the Big A.

Interested to see how #4 Lewisfield responds after a three-month rest. He earned a lifetime best fig off an all-out win after being hounded throughout the early stages of the 75 K Not For Love. None of the last out runners have earned a Beyer Speed figure above 88.

#6 Irish Colonel (10/1 ML) is worth a look in vertical exotics. Led late in his last race, the cut back may or may not work in his favor but he will be rolling late.
