$1500K - G1 Preakness Stakes - Pimlico Race 13

Very doubtful if I'm betting this race, only 4 new faces to consider.

From similar connections as our odds-on favorite, #1 Quip (12/1 ML) will have to be sent to gain his preferred forward position. Has yet to deal with a quick pace, plus less-than-ideal track conditions, I don't think this will be a very good gauge to see what do next with this colt. Surely an uncoupled entrymate won't try to duel the big horse into submission !?!

#3 Sporting Chance shows up here after a wide trip in the (G3) Pat Day Mile. For me it was the only odd result (Funny Duck) of that quagmire of an afternoon. I am very interested to see where many of those runners turn up. With his late stretch antics in the Bluegrass, I'm not sold on his 9.5 furlong chances.

#4 Diamond King (30/1 ML) and Company decide to skip the Peter Pan and run here. Ummm. Ok.

#6 Tenfold (20/1 ML) chased Magnum Moon (a ghost on Derby Day, Derby Week for that matter) and Quip a month ago in Hot Springs. Like Quip, I don't see him keeping up early putting him in an unfamiliar running position.

Some positive opinions, I think #8 Bravazo ran credibly in the Derby. Knocked sideways soon after the start and ran wide throughout, he basically equalled his best speed figures indicating he may relish the mud. Is he good enough to outfinish Justify and/or Good Magic? Meh, probably not unless some strange race dynamics develop. Here's hoping!
